Bluefish Sign Infielder Galvez

(Bridgeport, Conn. - June 24, 2015) - The Bridgeport Bluefish today announced the signing of infielder Jonathan Galvez. Galvez joins the Bluefish for his first season in the Atlantic League and eighth of professional baseball.

"Jonathan is a really solid ballplayer," says Bluefish Manager Ricky VanAsselberg. "We're excited to have him on our squad and we look forward to seeing his contributions at the plate and on the field."

Galvez began the 2015 season with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (New York-AL) of the International League. He appeared in 40 games and collected a .237 batting average. Last year, the infielder played 103 games with Triple-A El Paso (San Diego) of the Pacific Coast League where he compiled a .280 batting average with 36 extra-base hits, including 10 home runs.

Jonathan began his professional career in 2008 within the San Diego Padres organization. He spent seven years in the Padres farm system, reaching Triple-A in both 2013 and 2014. In 686 career minor league games, Galvez owns a .278 batting average with 54 home runs, 343 RBI and 409 runs scored.
