Force Claim Series Finale

April 16, 2021 - United States Hockey League (USHL) - Waterloo Black Hawks News Release

The Fargo Force defeated the Waterloo Black Hawks 5-1 at Scheels Arena Friday.

Coupled with Fargo's 4-2 Thursday night win, the Force prevailed in all six games against Waterloo during the 2020/21 campaign.

Fargo had two first period power plays with almost identical results at 3:42 and 9:46. In both instances, quick puck movement set up Tristan Broz from the right circle before Jack Williams could move to his left to protect the post. Cody Monds created the first one, with Ryan Siedem keying the follow up.

A terrible bounce epitomized the weekend, allowing the Force to build their lead eight seconds into the second. A dump in up the right glass went behind the net before inexplicably turning off the end wall into the left circle. Jacob Braccini was waiting there to squeeze a shot past Williams. Charlie Glockner came into the game and was not greeted kindly as the Force scored again on a rush at 1:57, with defenseman Nick Strom going to the crease to capitalize.

In the third, the Force went to their third power play of the night when Aaron Huglen was speared by Owen Ozar; Huglen capitalized in transition nearly three minutes into the resulting five minute major penalty, cutting through the left circle to lift in his chance.

The Hawks broke up Brennan Boynton's shutout bid during a power play with 2:40 to go in regulation. Jonah Copre wound up for a full slapshot from the right point, and Dane Montgomery tipped the chance on its way through the slot.

Boynton stopped Waterloo's other 22 attempts. Fargo outshot the Hawks 35-23.

The Black Hawks' final three home games during 2020/21 are all on the schedule next week. The first of those is on Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m. when Waterloo hosts the Lincoln Stars.
