Flynn, Hatcher Earn All-PCL Honors

August 26, 2013 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
New Orleans Baby Cakes News Release

Metairie, LA - The New Orleans Zephyrs have placed left-handed starter Brian Flynn and reliever Chris

Hatcher on the 2013 All-Pacific Coast League team, it was announced Monday.

The Zephyrs are joined by Sacramento and Colorado Springs as the only teams to place two representatives on

the All-PCL squad. The Z's had not placed a player on the All-PCL team since outfielder Brandon Watson,

designated hitter Rick Short and left-handed pitcher Matt White were honored in 2005.

Flynn was promoted from Double-A at the end of April and has posted a league-leading 2.86 ERA in 22 starts.

His record stands at 6-10, but the Zephyrs have given him two runs of support or fewer in 17 of his starts,

including eight times in a nine-start stretch where Flynn allowed more than two runs only once and had six

consecutive quality starts.

The 23-year-old ranks fourth in the league in WHIP (1.19), fifth in opponents batting average (.240) and is tied

for sixth in strikeouts (117). Over his last 12 games, Flynn owns a 1.49 ERA.

Hatcher leads the PCL with 32 saves, tied for second-most in all of Minor League Baseball and just one shy of

matching Ryan Speier's single-season league record, set with Colorado Springs in 2007. Hatcher also leads the

league with 52 games finished, and has appeared in 57 contests overall, second-most in the league and three

away from the Zephyrs' season record.

A converted catcher, Hatcher made 37 appearances for New Orleans in 2012 and had 11 saves and a 0.77 ERA,

the best mark in Zephyrs history among relievers with at least 25 innings pitched. His 43 saves in a Zephyrs

uniform are second-most all-time.

The Zephyrs begin their final homestand of the 2013 season on Monday at 7 p.m. against the Memphis

Redbirds, and wrap up the campaign on Labor Day at 1 p.m. against the Albuquerque Isotopes.
