Efren Navarro Named to 2013 All-PCL Team

SALT LAKE CITY - The Pacific Coast League announced today that Salt Lake Bees first baseman Efren Navarro has been named to the 2013 All-PCL Team, as elected by field managers and media representatives. Navarro also represented the Bees and the PCL in the 2013 Triple-A All-Star Game.

In 127 games with Salt Lake this season, Navarro owns a .326 batting average with 79 runs scored, 158 hits, 37 doubles, seven home runs, 79 RBI, 220 total bases and a .408 on-base percentage. He currently ranks second in the PCL in doubles and fourth in batting average and on-base percentage while leading the Bees in games played, runs scored, hits, doubles, RBI, total bases and on-base percentage.

A 27-year-old native of Lynwood, Calif. and former UNLV rebel, Navarro is currently in his third season with the Bees. Selected by the Angels in the 50th round of the 2007 Draft, he made his major league debut with the Angels on September 2, 2011 against the Minnesota Twins and recorded his first major league hit on September 28, 2011 against the Texas Rangers. A 2011 recipient of a Rawlings Golden Glove Award, Navarro led all PCL first basemen last season with a .997 fielding percentage and currently owns a .994 fielding percentage in 2013.

The Bees look to maintain the Pacific Northern Division lead as the team begins a four-game road series against the second-place Tacoma Rainiers tonight at 8:05 p.m. MT. Salt Lake currently owns a five-game lead over Tacoma. The Bees will conclude the regular season with a four-game series against the Reno Aces from August 30-September 2 at Spring Mobile Ballpark.
