Rochester Americans News Release

(Rochester, NY)... Rochester Americans General Manager Jody Gage announced today that the Florida Panthers have recalled center Drew Larman. The recall is his fifth of the season.

The Buffalo, NY native will be available to the Panthers as they take on the Phoenix Coyotes in South Florida tonight. In his previous four stints with Florida, Larman collected a total of two goals in 13 games. He netted his first NHL goal on November 24th against Ottawa. With the Amerks, Larman has amassed 13 goals and five assists in 33 games.

The Amerks will take on the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights tonight at The Blue Cross Arena in the middle game of a three-game weekend. The 8:05 p.m. contest will be broadcast live on Hot Talk 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and B2 Networks.

In their first meeting of the season on January 20th, the Knights captured a 2-1 victory over the Amerks. Rochester outshot Omaha, 31-23, but fell to 1-2 all-time against the Calgary Flames affiliate.

The Amerks, who have now lost three straight contests, are led offensively by Clarke MacArthur who has 18 goals and 40 assists for a total of 58 points in 43 games this season. His 58 points is sixth among American Hockey League leaders. The second-year Amerk is also on an eight-game assist-scoring streak, in which he has totaled 12 assists. He has also registered three goals in those eight games. MacArthur has added a second streak to his current collection, as he has managed to register points in each of his last 15 home games. Center Janis Sprukts is currently tied for third among league rookies with 30 assists. His 41 points (11+30) is also eighth among first-year AHLers.

The Knights (30-15-3-1, 64 pts.) currently trail Chicago in the West Division standings by eight points. After winning seven straight contests in mid-January, they have gone 2-2-0-1 in their last five, but won a 4-3 decision over Houston in their last contest on Thursday night. Omaha has been fearless on the road, as they have lost just five games and are 15-5-3-1 when playing away from the Omaha Civic Auditorium this season. Knights' goaltender Curtis McElhinney has been an iron man in net, as he has been between the pipes in Omaha's last 16 games. During the stretch, the Knights have gone 11-3-1-1. McElhinney is 21-10-1 with a .915 save percentage and a 2.22 goals- against average in 35 games this season.

The Amerks will play their weekend finale on Sunday, February 11th, as they travel to Hamilton for a 4:00 p.m. showdown with their North Division rivals, the Hamilton Bulldogs, at Copps Coliseum. The game will be broadcast live on Hot Talk 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and B2 Networks.
