
Florida Reassigns Collins To Johnstown

(Rochester, October 7)... Rochester Americans Vice President of Hockey Operations Ted Nolan announced today that the Florida Panthers have reassigned forward Dan Collins to the Johnstown Chiefs of the ECHL. The Amerks have also released forward Jimmy Bonneau from his 25-game professional tryout.
Collins heads to the ECHL after playing in Rochester's home and season opening 3-2 OT loss to the Lake Erie Monsters this past Saturday night at The Blue Cross Arena. In 92 American Hockey League games with the Amerks, the 22-year-old Syracuse native has scored 10 goals and eight assists for 18 points. In his pro career, the 6-foot-2, 185-pound forward has notched 36 points (14+22) in 120 combined games between Rochester and the ECHL's Florida Everblades. Prior to turning pro, Collins played four seasons in the Ontario Hockey League with the Plymouth Whalers, registering 185 points (86+99) and 233 penalty minutes in 237 games. Collins was the Florida Panthers' third-round selection (90th overall) in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
Bonneau departs Rochester after skating in his Amerks debut on opening night against the Lake Erie Monsters. In 62 AHL games with Hamilton, Portland and Rochester, the Baie-Comeau, Quebec, native has one goal and six assists for seven points along with 186 PIM. An eighth-round selection (241st overall) by the Montreal Canadiens in 2003, the 6-foot3, 220-pound forward has skated in 191 pro games, tallying 24 points (4+20) and 473 PIM.
Rochester kicks off its two-game weekend on Friday, October 9th as the Lake Erie Monsters return to The Blue Cross Arena. The 7:05 p.m. rematch of opening night will be the second of eight scheduled meetings between the North Division opponents this season and will be broadcast live on SportsRadio 1280 WHTM and FM 107.3, Rochester's Sports Talk. The game will also be televised live on Time Warner SportsNet Channel 26.
