Florence, Kentucky: A Monday night crowd of 1,363 strolled into Champion Window Field, including Red's broadcaster, Steve Welsch. The home fans were hoping that the Freedom bats would come alive, and the Freedom bats failed to deliver, only managing four hits, and no runs.
Zach Schmidt tried to get something going in the first, doubling to left-center as the lead-off batter, but he failed to score. In the second, Scott Martin doubled to left, but he also failed to score. Wally Quigg added a base hit in the third, and Matt Singer doubled in the fourth, but the Freedom were blanked in all categories from then on, losing 3-0. Curt Moenter was the victom of poor run support, he went seven and a third, giving up three runs on four hits, striking out eight. Mickey O'Quinn came on to pitch one and two/thirds of scoreless relief.
Florence and the rest of the Frontier League take Tuesday off, but head out to Kalamazoo for a three game set with the Kings on Wednesday, before coming back home on Saturday for Liberty the Freedom Eagle bobblehead night.
