Fan Takes Home Diamond Ring From \'Hawks Game
August 2, 2005 - Frontier League (FL)
Rockford RiverHawks News Release
ROCKFORD, Ill. - RiverHawk fan, Rosa Behcher, left Marinelli Field Monday night with a new best friend. The Byron native won the âHawks' annual Diamond Dig, sponsored by Clodius and Hot 105.9 FM.
Behcher won a 1K Diamond ring, after digging out a box containing the ring from the infield dirt.
Following the RiverHawks' 11-9 win over Ohio Valley, approximately 100 women of ages 18 and over participated in the contest, using only their hands and tongue depressors to dig. Behcher found the ring box buried on the left side of the infield, 15 paces from the foul line and five paces in from the outfield grass.
The competition lasted just four minutes and 34 seconds, the shortest Diamond Dig in the four years the RiverHawks have held the promotion.
The RiverHawks are the defending champions of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league in its 13th season. All games are broadcasted live on WRHL-FM, 102.3 - the Hub.
