Utah Flash News Release

OREM, UT, March 3, 2010 - The Utah Flash continued a four-game home stand tonight hosting the Western Division rival Idaho Stampede. In a hard fought battle the Flash pulled out the victory 116-110. Utah was led by Gabe Pruitt's game-high 23 points.

"Gabe's been playing really well for us since we've come back from the all-star break," said Flash Head Coach Brad Jones. "We know he can do it, and tonight he did a lot for us. He stepped up and helped us get this win as a team."

Idaho opened the game with high energy and a fast pace. The Stampede led by as many as 15 points in the first quarter, however, the Flash battled back to bring the quarter to a close down seven. Andre Barrett led the Stampede scorer's in the first quarter with 10 points.

"We got off to an awful sluggish start," said Brad Jones. "We found a way to hang in there and at times we showed toughness and executed and that's what kept us in the game."

Utah managed to outscore Idaho by nine points in the second quarter and took a two point lead into halftime. Pruitt had 12 points in the first half while Carlos Wheeler chipped in 11.

The third quarter was a back and forth game with neither team ever taking more than a four point lead. Idaho forward Joe Dabbert was ejected during the third quarter after receiving a personal foul and then two technical fouls. Idaho was forced to play with only seven players the rest of the way.

In the fourth quarter things looked to be going in favor of Idaho as they led by as many as seven points. Utah battled back getting defensive stops and fast break buckets and went up by three with two minutes remaining.

As time wound down the Flash got several defensive stops, a few offensive rebounds, and hit their free throws to seal the victory. Utah was lead by Pruitt's 23 points. Wheeler added 22 off the bench and Orien Greene notched 17 for the Flash. For Idaho it was Mildon Ambres with 23 points, Andre Barrett with 20 and Donell Taylor with 17.

Utah will return to the McKay Events Center Friday night as the Flash take on the Reno Bighorns. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
