McLeod's 44 Not Enough as T-Birds Stumble Down the Stretch Against Dakota

BISMARCK, N.D., March 3, 2010 - The Albuquerque Thunderbirds led for the game's first 40 minutes, but Dakota took a 76-74 lead on three from Renaldo Major with 7:50 to go in the fourth and never looked back in a 100-91 win on Wednesday night.

Keith McLeod had a career game for Albuquerque, scoring 44 points on 14-27 shooting. McLeod also shot 14-15 from the free throw line and added 3 assists and 3 steals for the T-Birds.

The Thunderbirds opened the game on a 12-3 run, and led 48-39 at halftime. Albuquerque led by as many as 15 in the second quarter (35-20).

The T-Birds led by 10 going into the fourth quarter, but Dakota heated up in the final frame and outscored Albuquerque 39-20 over the final 12 minutes.

McLeod's 44 points is the most in a single game by any player in the NBA Development League this season. His previous season high had been 33.

Antoine Agudio added 13 points and Sasha Cuic notched 11 for Albuquerque.

Lester Hudson led the way for Dakota with 24 points. Romel Beck added 23 for the Wizards.

Albuquerque shot 50.0% from the game, while Dakota connected on 44.7% of its shots. The game featured just one lead change.
