Rio Grande Valley's Garrett Temple Signs With Sacramento Kings

NEW YORK, March 3, 2010 - The Sacramento Kings today signed rookie Garrett Temple of the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, making him the 19th GATORADE Call-Up of the 2009-10 NBA D-League season. Temple joins 78 current NBA Players with NBA D-League experience.

Temple, a 6-5 guard out of Louisiana State, has started all 30 games in which he has appeared for the Vipers this season, averaging 14.9 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 3.4 assists in 34.9 minutes. He has scored in double figures 24 times, including a season-high 24 points, to go with six rebounds and five assists, in a 122-104 victory over the Iowa Energy on Jan. 10, in Des Moines, Iowa.

Temple returns to the NBA following a GATORADE Call-Up to the Houston Rockets on Feb. 8. During two 10-day contracts with the Rockets, Temple appeared in nine games, averaging 5.0 points, 1.6 rebounds and 13.1 minutes. He scored an NBA career-high 11 points on two occasions.

A four-year contributor at LSU, Temple was named to the SEC All-Defensive team in 2008, and appeared in the NCAA'S Final Four in 2006. He averaged 7.1 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.8 assists in 35 games during his senior season.

Temple is expected to join the Kings in Houstontoday and be in uniform tonight when the team faces the Rockets at the Toyota Center.
