Springfield Armor News Release
SPRINGFIELD, MA March 3, 2010 - The Springfield Armor announced today the signing of Corey Minnifield, a 6-8 power forward who had previously played for the Fort Wayne Mad Ants. To make room for Minnifield, the Armor waived guard JamesOn Curry, who recently suffered a season-ending elbow injury. Springfield will retain Curry's rights should he return to the D-League next season.
Minnifield averaged 16.4 ppg and 5.7 rpg in 43 games with the Mad Ants during the 2007-2008 season. He spent the 2008-2009 season playing professionally in South Korea.
"We are very excited to bring Corey on board for the rest of the season. He brings much-needed depth and D-League experience to our team," said Armor Coach Dee Brown. "JamesOn's injury is unfortunate, but we look forward to seeing him recover quickly and return to basketball in the future."
Springfield takes on Sioux Falls tonight in their Biker Knight at 7 p.m. and again on Thursday, March 4th at 7 p.m. for College Knight. College students can get a $5 ticket at the box office by showing their student I.D. for Thursday night's game.
Tickets are still on sale and can be purchased by logging on to www.armorhoops.com or by visiting the MassMutual Center Box Office. Box Office hours are Monday through Friday, 9-5, Saturday, 10 to game time.
