Flash Get First Win Against Thunderbirds

Rio Rancho, NM - The Utah Flash won their first game of the season against the New Mexico Thunderbirds on Saturday 109-104.

The Flash shot 53.7% (36-67) in the game and were led by Andre Ingram who had 29 points and Orien Greene who had 27 points

After a back and forth first half, the Utah Flash went on an 8-0 run late in the second quarter to open up the largest lead of the game 52-44. The Thunderbirds battled back with a 7-2 run to end the half and trailed just 54-51 at the break.

Greene led all scorers in the first half with 16 points on a perfect 7-for-7 shooting. Alan Anderson led the Thunderbirds with 14 points. The Utah Flash shot 20-for-33 in the first half, just over 60%.

Shane Edwards started off the third quarter by scoring the first 10 points of the half for the T-Birds. The teams would play a closely contested quarter, until a Josh Bostic three-pointer put New Mexico up 82-81 at the end of the third.

With the scored tied 88-88, the Flash went on a 10-2 run and led by eight points with 7:22 remaining in the game. With 1:58 left in the fourth, Anderson hit a jumper to get the Thunderbirds within one point. The teams would trade buckets, until Jason Horton was fouled with the T-Birds down by two and just under 30 seconds left. He made just one of two free throws and the Flash iced the game by hitting four free throws down the stretch to pick up the win.

Jordan Brady chipped in 18 points and a team high seven rebounds for the Flash in the win. Brian Hamilton also tallied five assists in the win.

The Flash travel to Bakersfield to take on the Jam before returning home to Utah for their first home game of the season on Friday December 3 against the Austin Toros. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. at the McKay Events Center.
