
Toros Complete Weekend Sweep of Vipers

CEDAR PARK, TEXAS - The Austin Toros completed the weekend sweep of the the defending NBA Development League champion Rio Grande Valley Vipers with a 116-109 win Sunday at Cedar Park Center.
The Vipers (1-2) trailed 24-15 after 9:05, but, went on a 13-3 run, powered in-part by five points from Jerel McNeal and a three-pointer from Houston Rockets-assignee Patrick Patterson, to close first quarter up 28-27.
McNeal and Patterson finished tied with a team-high 22 points. Patterson also added 10 rebounds and two blocks while McNeal had five rebounds and four assists.
The Vipers scored the first seven points of the second quarter to take a 36-28 lead until former-Viper Marucs Hubbard snapped the run with a three-pointer for the Toros (3-1).
Hubbard finished with 11 points and five rebounds.
The Vipers led 55-51 at halftime, but the Toros opened the third quarter on a 12-3 run, during which time Thomas Gardner hit a three-pointer to give the Toros their first lead since the first quarter at 60-58. The Vipers closed the third quarter on a 7-2 run on the power of two baskets by Richard Roby to get within 85-83.
Roby finished with 18 points on 8-of-12 shooting.
Lewis Clinch hit a pair of baskets as the Toros went on a 7-0 run mid-way through the fourth quarter to take a 103-96 lead.
Clinch scored a game-high 26 points on 13-of-19 shooting.
The Vipers return to action on Friday at 7:00 p.m. at Dr. Pepper Arena when they face the Texas Legends.
