
Five Unanswered Goals Propel Jackals to Game 2 Win

The Elmira Jackals scored five-straight goals on Wednesday night at Germain Arena in Estero, Fla. to defeat the Florida Everblades 5-2 and tie their best-of-five American Conference Quarterfinal series 1-1.Elmira Jackals Logo
After trailing early in the second period on an Everblades goal by Eric Lampe at 2:52, the Jackals commenced their rally with a power-play goal by Chris Korchinski who redirected a Maxime Gratchev shot to tie the game 1-1 at 6:26.
Wes Cunningham gave the Jackals their first lead of the series at 12:59, tipping in an R.J. Anderson right-circle shot past Everblades goaltender Chris Beckford-Tseu to make it 2-1.
Elmira's lead became two nearing the second intermission when Tyler Donati followed up a rebound with a falling-down shot to give the Jackals a 3-1 advantage at 18:23 of the second period.
At 2:31 of the third period, Brendan Connolly knocked in a shot by Thomas Beauregard to up the Jackals' lead to 4-1.
Justin Donati scored the fifth and final of the unanswered goals at 5:07, tipping in a feed from Yannick Tifu on a two-on-one to cap the Jackals scoring rush.
Lampe had a goal with 15 seconds remaining in the game, but the Jackals went onto win, 5-2.
The Jackals were led by Korchinski and Justin Donati, who each had a goal and two assists and a +2. Brennan Turner, Mat Robinson, Wes Cunningham, and Chaz Johnson were +2 as well.
Holt made 18 saves on 20 shots to improve to 1-1 in the playoffs. Beckford-Tseu dropped to 1-1 in the postseason, stopping 22 of 27 shots in the loss. Adrien Lemay came in for relief effort for the Everblades, stopping all three shots he saw.
One night after all four home teams won the opening round games in the American Conference, all four road teams even their series 1-1, including the Jackals. The Jackals now return home with a chance to win two out of the final three games of the series to try and advance to the American Conference Semifinals.
The Jackals will host the Everblades on Friday, Apr. 9 at 7:35 p.m., Saturday, Apr. 10 at 7:35 p.m., and Sunday, Apr. 11 at 4:05 p.m.
