
Stingrays Tie Series with 3-1 Win Over Cyclones

Cincinnati, OH -The South Carolina Stingrays (1-1) tied the best-of-five American Conference Quarterfinals series with the Cincinnati Cyclones (1-1) at a game apiece with a 3-1 victory in front of 1,353 at U.S. Bank Arena Wednesday night.
Stingrays forward Rob Ricci started the scoring 33 seconds into the first period, beating Cyclones goaltender Jeremy Smith with a wrist shot from the bottom of the right-wing circle. Forward Matt Scherer registered the lone assist. Scherer put the Stingrays up 2-0 at 5:29 from defenseman Johann Kroll.
The Stingrays carried the scoring into the second period as forward Keith Johnson lit the lamp on the power play from defenseman Dylan Yeo and Kroll. The Cyclones jumped on the board with a power-play marker at 11:44 from forward Jimmy Kilpatrick. Forward Mathieu Aubin and defenseman Doug Krantz assisted on Kilpatrick's third goal of the playoffs.
Stingrays goaltender Todd Ford shut the door in the third period stopping all 10 Cyclones shots and made 25 saves on 26 shots in the contest. Smith suffered the loss, stopping 28 of 31 Stingrays chances. The Stingrays finished the night 1-for-4 on the power play while the Cyclones went 1-for-7.
