Schaumburg Boomers News Release
WASHINGTON, PA -The Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, committed a pair of errors in the bottom of the second inning leading to five unearned runs as the Washington Wild Things captured the middle game of the road series 6-3 on Saturday night.
The game started following a 35-minute weather delay and Washington took advantage of two errors in the second inning to open a 5-0 lead. All five runs in the inning were unearned against Schaumburg starter Connor Reed. Blake Adams drove home two with a triple in the frame. The Boomers were able to peck away at the deficit with a run in the third when Jimmy Galusky lifted a sacrifice fly to score Dylan Jones, who walked to start the frame. Trailing 6-1 entering the ninth, the Boomers brought the tying run to the plate but came up short. Jones and Clint Hardy drove home runs in the ninth but Washington's career leader in saves, Zach Strecker, closed the door.
Reed allowed just one earned run in five innings, walking one and striking out four. Michael McCraith worked the final three frames and did not allow a run. Jack Parenty and Matt Rose each posted a pair of hits in the defeat.
The Boomers (25-25) conclude the first half of the season at 4:35 p.m. tomorrow. RHP Payton Lobdell (0-4, 5.49) takes the ball in the rubber game against LHP John Havird (4-3, 4.04). Schaumburg returns home following the All-Star break on July 12. Visit boomersbaseball.com for tickets and information or call 847-461-3695.
