Washington Wild Things News Release
WASHINGTON, Pa. - The Wild Things scored five in the second and never looked back to take Saturday's middle game against the Boomers, 6-3. It's Gregg Langbehn's 441st win as a manager in the Frontier League, which moves him into seventh on the charts all time in league history.
Washington scored five in the second inning with the help of two Schaumburg errors and three hits, including a two-run triple by Blake Adams and an RBI single by Cody Erickson.
Schaumburg scored in the third before Washington plated a run on Cameron Baranek's fourth home run of the season in the fifth. The Boomers would add two runs in the ninth.
Michael Austin tossed seven innings for the first time this season. He allowed four hits and one run with two walks and four strikeouts, en route to his fourth win of the season. Zach Strecker got his seventh save of the year.
Blake Adams, Cody Erickson, JJ Fernandez and Cameron Baranek had multiple hits and Adams drove in two.
Langbehn's 441st managerial win in the Frontier League passed former Wild Things' and Lake Erie Crushers' manager John Massarelli. Massarelli, who managed Washington from 2004-07, is still the winningest manager in franchise history. Six of the top seven managers in wins in the league are active. Langbehn now has 174 wins as the Wild Things' skipper.
The rubber game of the series is set for tomorrow at 5:35 p.m. John Havird goes for Washington and will be opposed by Payton Lobdell.
