Ogden Raptors News Release
The Idaho Falls Chukars used a five-run fourth inning en route to defeating the Ogden Raptors 8-4 Friday night at Melaleuca Field.
With the Raptors leading 3-1, the Chukars took the lead with a big inning. With one out, Mike Hill hit a two-run homer to right field after Wander Franco walked. Brandon Thomasson followed with a double to right and moved to third on a groundout. Desmond Henry then singled home Thomasson and stole second. Luis Valenzuela hit a fly ball to right that was dropped by Colin Hering, allowing Henry to score and the inning to continue. Ryan O'Hearn then had his sixth straight hit, a double to left, to score Valenzuela and give the Chukars a 6-3 lead.
The Raptors got the lead by scoring in the first three innings.
In the first, Colin Hering singled and scored on an Austin Cowen double off the wall in right.
In the second, Joe Meggs walked, and Yensys Capellan and Cristian Gomez hit infield singles to load the bases. Jaylen Harris then grounded into a fielder's choice with Meggs scoring. Strikeouts from Hering and Justin Chigbogu prevented a big inning, but the Raptors still led 2-0.
Ogden's third run came on a solo homer from Julian Leon to start the third inning. The home run was Leon's second of the season.
The Raptors and Chukars continue their four-game series Saturday as Victor Gonzalez toes the rubber for Ogden against Alec Mills. Game starts at 7:15 and can be heard on 97.5 The Zone.
