Idaho Falls Chukars News Release
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- The day began with the Chukars breezing through the 4th of July Parade of a float in front of a large crowd. The day ended with the Chukars breezing through the Raptors 8-4 in front of the largest crowd this year.
After Ogden (6-13) jumped in front 3-0 by hopping on Eric Skoglund and Eric Stout. However, after allowing a home run to Julian Leon, Stout (1-0) found his grove by setting down the next and final nine Raptors he saw. During that stretch, the Chukars (9-10) came from behind and took the lead. In the fourth inning, Michael Hill launched his professional home run, a two run blast to tie it 3-3. The Chukars tallied on three more runs, one on a double by Ryan O'Hearn and led 6-3.
O' Hearn continued his ridiculous hot streak tonight. After going 4-4 last night, the Sam Houston State product went 2 for his 2 with two walks. His reach-base safely streak ended with a strikeout in the eighth inning. The first baseman is hitting .444, which leads the league. He also leads the Pioneer League in slugging percentage.
Insurance was added in the eighth inning, thanks to a two run single by Parker Morin. That single was the final at-bat with Idaho Falls for Morin, as he heads back to Northwest Arkansas (AA), completing his rehab assignment.
Idaho Falls walked a season high eight times in the ballgame. The announced attendance of 3,584 was the largest crowd the past two seasons at Melaleuca Field.
Idaho Falls plays game six of the seven game series against Ogden tomorrow. Alec Mills is slated to throw for Idaho Falls, against Ogden's Victor Gonzalez.
