Five Run Eighth Gives Rome a 7-2 Victory

Rome, GA - Rome defeated Columbia Wednesday afternoon at State Mutual Stadium 7-2 before a crowd 1,595.

Rome took a two run lead in the fourth inning when Jean Carlos Encarnacion reached on a fielding error allowing two runs to cross the plate for the 2-0 edge. In the sixth, Columbia cut the lead in half as Encarnacion couldn't handle a ground ball hit by Giovanny Alfonzo letting a run score. The Fireflies tied the game 2-2 in the eighth on Alfonzo's RBI double but Rome took a 7-2 lead in the bottom of the frame. Greyson Jenista's run scoring double, Jefrey Ramos' RBI single, Encarnacion's double to plate a run, and Drew Lugbauer added a two run double giving the Braves the runs needed to get the win.

Cutter Dyals (1-1) gets the win going two innings allowing one run on one hit. Darwin Ramos (3-3) get tagged with the loss.
