Ziegler Returns to GreenJackets Lineup

July 25, 2018 - South Atlantic League (SAL1)
Augusta GreenJackets News Release

Charleston, SC: The Augusta GreenJackets, South Atlantic League affiliate of San Francisco Giants, lost 4-1 to the Charleston RiverDogs on Wednesday night.

Just like in game two, the RiverDogs got out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning. The RiverDogs would go on to add two more runs in the third inning to take a 4-0 lead in the ballgame.

After the RiverDogs started off hot, the GreenJackets bullpen was able to shut them down the rest of the game. Tyler Schimpf, Orleny Quiroz, and John Timmins would combine to go 5 1/3 innings, only surrendering two hits to the RiverDogs.

The only run for the GreenJackets would come off the bat of Malique Ziegler in the eighth inning. His single into left field scored Rob Calabrese from third base and cut the RiverDogs lead to 4-1. This was the first start for Ziegler since his injury on April 29th. In his return, Ziegler went 1-4 with an RBI.

The GreenJackets (13-20) will be back in action tomorrow in Charleston at 7:05 pm for the finale of the four-game series.

After the eight game road trip, the GreenJackets will be back at SRP Park for seven game homestand! Promotions include Boy Scout night, Military Appreciation Night, and National Wing Day Festival! Get your tickets now!
