
Five Lake Monsters Selected For All-Star Game

BURLINGTON, VT --- Pitchers Adrian Alaniz, Glenn Gibson and Colton Willems, along with first baseman Bill Rhinehart and outfielder Aaron Seuss have all been selected to participate in the 2007 New York-Penn League All-Star Game on Tuesday, August 14th in Fishkill, New York at the Hudson Valley Renegades' Dutchess Stadium, the league announced today.
Alaniz is 6-1 with a 1.74 ERA, good for second-best in the league, in nine appearances (six starts) for the Lake Monsters this season. The right-hander was an eighth-round pick of the Washington Nationals out of the University of Texas in the 2007 Draft.
Gibson, who will start for Vermont on Thursday, currently leads the New York-Penn League with a 0.62 ERA and is 4-0 in eight starts. The left-hander was a sixth-round pick of the Nationals in the 2006 Draft out of Center Moriches High School.
Willems, a first-round pick for Washington in the 2006 Draft out of John Carroll High School, is 3-0 with a 2.27 ERA in eight starts with Vermont. He is currently fourth in the league in ERA and is scheduled to start for Vermont on Friday at Batavia.
Rhinehart, an 11th-round pick in this year's draft out of the University of Arizona, is hitting .304 with 14 doubles, two homers and 33 RBI in 46 games for the Lake Monsters. Rhinehart is currently fourth in the league in RBI and second in doubles.
Seuss, who had a 15-game hitting streak earlier this season, is batting .351 with nine doubles, two homers and 18 RBI in 49 games for Vermont. A 27th-round pick out of California Baptist University in the 2007 Draft, Seuss is fourth in the New York-Penn League in batting.
The third annual All-Star game, begins at 7:35 p.m. on Tuesday with players from the seven National League affiliates of the New York-Penn League taking on players from the seven American League affiliates.
