Williamsport Crosscutters News Release
HIGHLIGHTS: The Williamsport Crosscutters split pair of games with Staten Island on Wednesday, falling 10-2 in the conclusion of Tuesday's suspended game 10-2 and taking the nightcap 6-3. The Yankees held a 2-0 lead when play was halted on August 7th, and continued the barrage against the Cutters and relief pitcher Chris Kissock. The right-hander allowed three runs over three innings, a deficit the Crosscutters could not overcome. Jarrod Freeman, Tuesday's starter, took the loss, his second of the season.
In Wednesday's regularly scheduled game, Staten Island jumped on Williamsport's Drew Naylor, driving home two runs in the first inning and adding another in the second. The Crosscutters rallied though, plating two runs in the home half of the third. Caleb Mangum doubled to lead off the frame, and scored on a D'Arby Myers single. Myers stole second, and scored on a single by Dominic Brown. The Cutters tacked on three more runs in the fifth with two outs. Myers drove Jermaine Williams in from second, and moved to third after walks to Brown and Tyler Mach. Matt Spencer drove in a pair with a single. Williamsport added it final run in the sixth on a single by Phillip Cuevas. Naylor (6-4) pitched the first complete game of the year for the Crosscutters, who will host the Yankees tomorrow in the rubber match of this three-game series. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
