
Five Cardinals selected to All-Star Game

The New Jersey Cardinals will be well represented at the inaugural New York-Penn League All-Star game in Brooklyn next Tuesday at 7 PM. The league announced the rosters yesterday and 5 Cardinals were among them. Pitcher Jeremy Zick, Catcher Brandon Yarbrough, OF, Sean Danielson, OF, Chad Gabriel and 1B, A.J. Van Slyke was selected but will be unable to participate due to a shoulder injury.
Zick has a record of 1-0 with an ERA of 1.65 in 19 appearances. He has pitched 32.2 innings and has allowed 18 runs (6 earned) on 31 hits with 29 strikeouts and 9 walks. Zick had has 14 inning scoreless streak snapped last night when Brooklyn scored a run in the bottom of the 9th.
For the season Yarbrough is batting.296 (45-152) with 15 doubles, 2 triples, 2 home runs and 20 RBIs. Hes hitting .281 (16-57) with 2 doubles, 2 triples, 2 home runs and 11 RBIs in the month of August.
Danielson has a batting average of .330 (31-94) with a double, 2 triples, 6 RBIs and 10 steals this season. For the month of August he is swinging the bat at a .385 (25-65) clip.
Gabriel is hitting .315 (45-143) with 11 doubles, 1 HR and 17 RBIs. He is swinging the stick at .400 (16-40) for the month of August with 1 HR, 4 doubles and 5 RBIs.
The Cardinals final selection Van Slyke was hitting .343 (12-35) in 9 games with 2 HRs and 5 RBIs, before getting hurt July 24th at Vermont.
