BURLINGTON, VT --- Pitcher Gene Yost, outfielders Dee Brown and John-Michael Howell, along with infielders Jose Contreras and Leonard Davis have all been selected to play in the inaugural New York-Penn League All-Star Game Tuesday night at KeySpan Park in Brooklyn, the Vermont Expos announced today.

Brown and Howell, who were both placed on the disabled list today, will not be able to play in the All-Star Game, which will pit players from the seven National League affiliates of the New York-Penn League against players from the seven American League affiliates.

Brown was hitting .283 with eight home runs and 32 RBI in 47 games before breaking a bone in his left hand in a game at Tri-City last Saturday. Howell was among the league-leaders with a .361 average, but has not played due to a right shoulder injury since July 29th.

Yost, who started the season 4-1 before losing his last two starts, has a 2.90 ERA in 10 starts for Vermont and has held the opponent to just a .215 batting average.

Contreras, who will play in his 100th career game for Vermont tonight, is hitting .262 with 31 runs scored in 46 games played this season. He has slumped over the last three weeks, going 13-for-71 (.183) to drop his average from .317 to the current .262 average.

Davis, who began the season 4-for-37 (.108) in his first 13 games, is currently hitting .287 with six home runs and 21 RBI in 47 games. He had a team-high nine-game hitting streak snapped last night, but is still hitting .342 (41-for-120) in his last 34 games.
