Atlanta United FC News Release
ATLANTA - Atlanta United announced today that Brad Guzan, Miles Robinson and Justin Meram have received senior team international call-ups for the upcoming FIFA window from Sept. 2-10, while Ezequiel Barco and George Bello will represent Youth National Team sides. The players will leave after the Aug. 31 match against Philadelphia Union and return to first team duties before the club's match against Columbus Crew on Sept. 14.
Guzan, 34, has made 60 appearances for the United States since making his debut in 2006. He was part of the USMNT squads for the 2010 and 2014 World Cups, 2007 and 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cups, as well as the 2007 Copa America and 2016 Copa America Centenario, where he was the starting keeper.
Robinson, 22, has been called up to the USMNT senior team for the first time after making the 2019 Gold Cup preliminary roster. He has previously represented the U.S. at the U-20 and U-23 level with a combined 10 appearances. The USMNT will face Mexico on Sept. 6 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey and Uruguay on Sept. 10 at Busch Stadium in Saint Louis, Missouri.
Meram, 30, will join Iraq for a World Cup Qualifier against Bahrain Sept. 5. Meram has earned 30 caps for Iraq and scored four goals since making his debut in the 2014 Gulf Cup of Nations.
Barco, 20, will join Argentina's U-23 side for the first time in his career after making 14 appearances at the U-20 level. Most recently, Barco made four appearances at the 2019 U-20 FIFA World Cup for Argentina where he scored two goals and recorded two assists. Argentina's U-23s will face Bolivia's U-23s Sept. 4 in Argentina.
Bello, 17, will join the United States U-17 team for the Four Nations Tournament that will be played in Assen, Netherlands from Sept. 5-9. USA will face Mexico, Netherlands and Denmark at the competition, which will serve as the team's final official international matches before the 2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Brazil. Bello has been capped five times for the U-17s and scored a goal in an October 2018 international friendly against Russia's U-18s.
