
Four FC Cincinnati Players Called up to Respective National Teams

CINCINNATI - Four FC Cincinnati players were called up to represent their respective national teams for matches during the upcoming FIFA window that starts on Monday, Sept. 2. Allan Cruz and Kendall Waston have been called in to Costa Rica, Alvas Powell has been called in to Jamaica and Derrick Etienne Jr. has been called in to Haiti.
Costa Rica will play one international friendly, while Jamaica and Haiti will compete in a pair of Concacaf Nations League qualifiers.
Cruz has earned 14 caps and has scored two goals for Costa Rica. The 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup was Cruz's first major international competition with the Ticos. In the tournament, he played all 390 minutes, scored a goal and added an assist for Costa Rica. With FC Cincinnati, Cruz has scored five goals and has added one assist in 19 appearances this season.
Waston has earned 36 caps and has scored six goals for Costa Rica. FC Cincinnati's captain made three appearances for the Ticos at the 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup. With FC Cincinnati, Waston has made 21 appearances, all starts, and has scored one goal this season.
Powell has earned 43 caps for Jamaica. The defender most recently represented Jamaica in the 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup, where he played every minute of Jamaica's five matches in the competition. With FC Cincinnati, Powell has made 13 appearances, including 10 starts, this season.
Etienne Jr. has earned 17 caps and has scored three goals for Haiti since making his international debut in 2016. The midfielder - currently on loan from the New York Red Bulls - is receiving his first international call-up since joining FC Cincinnati. Etienne made five appearances and registered an assist for Haiti in the 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup. With FC Cincinnati, Etienne has made three appearances, including one start.
Costa Rica will host Uruguay in an international friendly on Friday, Sept. 6 at the Estadio Nacional de Costa Rica in San José, Costa Rica.
Jamaica will first play on Friday, Sept. 6, when they host Antigua and Barbuda at the Montego Bay Sports Complex in Montego Bay, Jamaica. The Reggae Boyz will play a second match on Monday, Sept. 9 against Guyana at the Leonora National Track and Field Center in Georgetown, Guyana.
Haiti will play CuraÃ- ao in back-to-back matches. The two teams first play on Saturday, Sept. 7, when CuraÃ- ao hosts Haiti at the Stadion Ergilio Hato in Willemstad, CuraÃ- ao. The second match will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 10 at the Stadio Sylvio Cator in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.
FC Cincinnati return to the field on Saturday, Aug. 31, when the team travels to play FC Dallas at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas. First kick is set for 8 p.m. ET, and the game will be televised live on WSTR 64, streamed on FloFC (in-region) and ESPN+ (out-of-region), carried on the radio on WDJO with an audio stream on TuneIn (WDJO) and fccincinnati.com.
The Orange and Blue return to Nippert Stadium for the first of their final four home games of the season on Saturday, Sept. 7, when the team hosts Toronto FC in the "Kick Childhood Cancer" game at 7:30 p.m. Individual and group tickets are available for that game - and all remaining home games - at fccincinnati.com/tickets or by calling 513-977-5425 (KICK).
