New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release
Manchester, N.H. - The New Hampshire Fisher Cats, Double-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, have announced today that the team will host two special "Peanut-Free Days" at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium on Thursday, May 19th against the Binghamton Mets at 10:35 a.m., and Wednesday, June 22nd against the Altoona Curve at 7:05 p.m. The Fisher Cats will not be selling peanuts in the stadium and have created special peanut-free seating sections to give fans with peanut allergies a chance to fully enjoy the experiences of a day at the ballpark.
"The Fisher Cats organization prides itself in providing superb and safe entertainment for every fan that ventures out to our ballpark," says Fisher Cats Vice President of Business Operations Matt Person. "Knowing that some of our most loyal fans suffer from peanut allergies, the organization thought it would be ideal to host a peanut-free event to give them a chance to enjoy a fun and affordable Minor League Baseball game."
Peanut allergies affect an estimated one in 125 children and the number of children diagnosed with the allergy has doubled in recent years. Individuals can experience an allergic reaction simply by having their food come in contact with peanut-based products.
Christopher Weiss, Vice President of Advocacy and Government Relations with The Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network, commented on the occurrence stating, "Over the past few years, an increasing number of professional baseball venues have created special seating or zones in order to allow families affected by food allergy to enjoy our national pastime. We are pleased that the Fisher Cats are reaching out to New Hampshire families living with food allergy."
The Fisher Cats have taken strides to ensure that allergy affected fans can enjoy a game with the personal health risks significantly reduced. In order to ensure a high quality experience, ACME Pressure Washing has agreed to perform a deep clean of exclusive "Peanut-Free" Sections at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.
"ACME Pressure Wash is proud to be given the opportunity to use our services and help baseball fans with a peanut allergy be able to enjoy America's favorite pastime," says ACME Pressure Washing president Lionel Greenwood.
"Allergy Associates of New Hampshire applauds the Fisher Cats organization for featuring peanut-free zones at select home games this season," said Dr. Robert Hickey who was recently honored as a top doctor in the state by New Hampshire Magazine, "It is encouraging to see baseball teams offering allergy friendly venues to assist individuals and families with peanut allergy to comfortably and safely cheer for their favorite team."
Fans can instantly reserve their seats for this unique event online at nhfishercats.com by selecting ticket type "Peanut Free Day", or by contacting the Fisher Cats Ticket Office at (603) 641-2005.
