
Aeros Fall to SeaWolves, 8-5

ERIE, PA - The Akron Aeros lost game two of a three-game series to the Erie SeaWolves 8-5 Tuesday at Jerry Uht Park.
Lefty Matt Packer suffered the loss for the Aeros lasting six innings, giving up seven runs (five earned) on eight hits, walking one and striking out two.
Right-handed pitcher Mark Sorensen got the win for Erie pitching six innings, giving up an unearned run, scattering seven hits, walking one and striking out three.
Jared Goedert began a Major League Rehab Assignment with the Aeros Tuesday going 0-4 with an RBI, a walk and a strikeout.
The SeaWolves (15-15) got on the board in the bottom of the first inning. With a runner on first and one out, Ben Guez doubled home a run to give Erie a 1-0 lead. Guez later scored on a Kyle Bellows throwing error.
Erie added to their two-run lead in the second. With a runner on second and two outs, Jamie Johnson made it 3-0 on an RBI single. Later in the frame, Guez tripled home two to make it 5-0.
The Aeros (14-18) got a run back in the top of the fourth inning on a Matt McBride RBI single that scored Chun Chen and cut the SeaWolves lead to 5-1.
The SeaWolves quickly answered with two of their own in the bottom half of the inning.
Akron added a run in the top of the seventh inning on a Tim Fedroff RBI double that cut the Erie lead to 7-2. The Aeros got three more in the top of the eighth inning. McBride led off the frame with a solo home run to left field that made it 7-3. The home run was McBride's team-best fifth of the season. Later in the frame, Karexon Sanchez singled home John Drennen to make it 7-4. Bellows later came across to score when Goedert grounded into a force out cutting the Erie lead to 7-5.
The SeaWolves answered with a run in the bottom of the eight inning and never looked back winning game two of this three-game series.
The Aeros will look to salvage the final game of the series Wednesday morning. Akron will turn to left-hander Kelvin De La Cruz, who is 1-3 with a 2.77 ERA in 2011. De La Cruz is 1-1 with a 2.25 ERA in his career against Erie. He will face fellow southpaw Casey Crosby, who is 1-1 with a 4.94 ERA this season.
