Summary
Excellent pitching and timely hitting allowed the New Hampshire Fisher Cats to defeat the Akron RubberDucks 4-1 on a Sunday night at Canal Park.
Turning Point
Already holding a 2-1 lead, New Hampshire was able to finally get to Nic Enright who had worked out of trouble in earlier parts of the game. Enright would give up a one out double, which began the hit parade for the Fisher Cats, where a triple and back-to-back singles tacked on two additional insurance runs for New Hampshire making it 4-1.
Mound Presence
Jaime Arias got the start for Akron and was able to work out of trouble on multiple occasions throughout the night. Arias ended his day with four strikeouts and only four hits in four scoreless innings. Jared Janczak came on in relief and worked a scoreless inning and struck out one. Kyle Marman would surrender one hit in his inning scoreless inning of work. Kevin Kelly tossed a third of an inning, throwing three wild pitches and allowing two runs on two hits. Enright came on and pitched two and two thirds' innings, giving up two runs on three hits and striking out three.
Duck Tales
Akron's offense was silent for most of the game. In the fourth, Chris Roller was hit by a pitch before stealing second. Roller advanced to third on a fielder's choice before coming into score on a balk to make it 1-0 RubberDucks.
Notebook
Roller was able to extend his on-base streak to six games after reaching base by getting hit by a pitch...Despite the loss, Akron was able to still win the series marking the third consecutive series that the RubberDucks have won, and their fifth series win this season...Game Time: 2:26...Attendance: 3,712
