
Fisher Cats Complete Sweep of Mets

New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release
(Manchester, NH)-John Tolisano hit his first home run of the season and Rey Gonzalez picked up his fifth win, allowing one run over six innings, and the Fisher Cats beat Binghamton 7-2 before a crowd of 6,862 at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium on Thursday.
Gonzalez (5-1) worked the first six innings, allowing four hits. He walked three and struck out two. With the win, the Fisher Cats completed a three-game sweep of Binghamton and have matched the best start in franchise history at 39 games at 25-14.
For the third straight game, New Hampshire took advantage early in the contest, scoring three times in the bottom of the first inning. Anthony Gose walked, stole second, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on a balk. Mike McDade and Moises Sierra drew walks and both advanced on a wild pitch. McDade scored on a single by Ricardo Nanita to make it 2-0. Sierra scored on an error on another wild pitch.
Tolisano drilled his home run to right-center with one out in the bottom of the second inning to make it 4-0.
In the bottom of the third inning, Gose walked and stole second. McDade walked and both moved up on a wild pitch. Nanita's sacrifice fly to score Gose to make it 5-0.
Binghamton (13-24) scored its first run in the top of the fifth inning. Carlos Guzman and Jean Luc Blaquiere led off with singles. After a sacrifice bunt moved the runners up, Jordany Valdespin hit a sacrifice fly.
New Hampshire scored its final runs in the fifth inning on a McDade double and a home run by Sierra, his seventh, a two-run shot to open a 7-1 lead.
The Mets also scored a run in the top of the eighth inning. Brahiam Maldanado (2-for-4) doubled, Allen Dykstra walked and Eric Campbell drove in the run with a single.
Binghamton starter Brad Holt (1-3) took the loss, allowing five runs (four earned) over four innings. He gave up two hits, but walked eight while striking out one.
The Fisher Cats open an eight-game road trip in New Britain on Friday night at 6:35pm. RHP Henderson Alvarez will make his first Eastern League start for New Hampshire against RHP Deolis Guerra (3-4, 9.85). Radio coverage with Bob Lipman begins at 6:15pm on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network.
