Trenton Thunder News Release
(Erie, PA) - The Trenton Thunder, Double-A Affiliate of the New York Yankees, announce that RHP Carlos Silva has been transferred to Triple-A Scranton/ Wilkes-Barre. The move leaves the Thunder roster at one below the minimum of 24 active players.
Silva made one start with the Thunder, throwing six innings, only allowing an unearned run, on Saturday against Binghamton. He left in line for the win, but the Thunder lost the game 3-2 after Allan Dykstra's two-run homerun in the top of the ninth.
Silva was signed by the New York Yankees to a minor league contract on April 10, 2011, after he was released by the Chicago Cubs in March. Since joining the Yankees organization, the righty from Venezuela has made two starts with the Advanced-A Tampa Yankees, going 0-0 with a 2.57 ERA.
The Thunder will wrap-up the series at Jerry Uht Park Thursday at 11:05 AM when Trenton's LHP Shaeffer Hall (2-3, 3.34) takes the mound. Hall will oppose Erie's RHP L.J. Gagnier (3-2, 3.86). Tune-in to the game on 91.3 WTSR-FM and on trentonthunder.com. The SBLI Pre-Game Show with Hank Fuerst begins at 10:50 AM.
After Thursday's game, the Thunder return home Friday to begin a three-game series with the Portland Sea Dogs at Waterfront Park at 7:05 PM. The first 1,500 fans 18 and older to Friday's contest will receive Travel Mugs courtesy of Capital Health. Friday night is also another Mrs. G's Raffle, where a lucky fan will win a Frigidaire Upright Freezer and Chest Freezer (valued at $948). Fans can sign up at the Mrs. G's table on the concourse at Waterfront Park.
