Harrisburg Senators News Release
The Harrisburg Senators snapped a two-game losing streak on Thursday night with a 3-1 win over the New Britain Rock Cats. The teams were supposed to play two games on Thursday but a 3:31 rain delay meant the teams couldn't start and finish game two within the Eastern League curfew rules. Game two will be made up in New Britain with the specifics to be announced at a later date.
Oliver Perez pitched five plus innings in earning his first win with the Senators. He allowed just one hit and one unearned run before turning the game over to Cory VanAllen and then Hassan Pena. Pena pitched the final 1.1 innings for his second save on the season.
Archie Gilbert had two hits and an RBI and scored a run as well. Steve Lombardozzi literally stole the first run of the game, stealing third base in the third inning and then scoring when the throw got away from the Rock Cats third baseman.
The teams split the two games played this week and now the Senators head out on the road for a seven-game road trip beginning with three games in Binghamton. The game Friday night starts at 7:05 p.m. and can be heard on 1460am The Ticket, on the Internet through the Senators website, and on your ipad and iphone beginning at 6:50 p.m. RH Brad Peacock takes the hill for the Senators.
