Altoona Curve News Release

CURVE, Pa. - There will be giveaways, fireworks and a double-dip of fun as the Altoona Curve return home on Friday, May 20, for eight games in seven days at Blair County Ballpark. The Curve will open the homestand by welcoming in the Akron Aeros, Double-A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians, for four games, followed by four games with the Bowie Baysox, Double-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles. The homestand will run through Thursday, May 26.

A Freebie Friday will start the homestand off right as the Curve will be giving away New Logo Posters featuring the team's new designs to the first 1,000 fans into the ballpark. The gates will open at 5:30 p.m. The game begins at 6:30.

A Saturday in Curve, Pa. will be twice the fun with a doubleheader - two games for the price of one. The Curve and the Aeros will play two seven-inning games beginning at 5 p.m., with the second game beginning 30 minutes after the first. A Post-Game Fireworks show will take place after game two of the twinbill compliments of U.S. Foodservice.

Sunday afternoon's 2 p.m. game will have kids jumping for joy because they'll play for free in the Galliker's Fun Zone and Weis Playland all-game long courtesy of Butler Restoration Services. The third Youth Baseball Clinic of the season will also take place before Sunday afternoon's game with Akron. Children ages 14 & under can receive instruction from Curve players and coaches from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. for FREE with the purchase of a ticket to Sunday afternoon's game. Registration for the camp will begin at 9 a.m.

Kids will also run the bases after each of the first three games of the homestand, Friday through Sunday.

Akron exits town and the Curve will welcome Bowie to BCB to open their four-game series on Monday night at 6:30 p.m. The series will mark the first meetings of the season between the two teams. The game is a Mirror Monday presented by the Altoona Mirror as fans are encouraged to check the sports section of the Mirror for a special discount to that night's game.

Tuesday night's game at 6:30 p.m. will also feature special discounts for Curve fans as it's a Two-for-Tuesday presented by Atlantic Broadband and KRAFT Singles. Fans can receive two-for-one offers on tickets, hot dogs and small popcorns for Tuesday evening's contest with the Baysox. Since the first two Two-for-Tuesdays were rained out, this will be the first chance to get in on the best value in minor league baseball.

The homestand continues on Wednesday as the Curve host a School Kids Day which brings with it a special start time of 10:30 a.m. In addition, it's a Ponderosa Four-Pack Wednesday where fans can purchase four tickets, four hot dogs and four regular sodas all for $30 thanks to Ponderosa Steakhouses.

The homestand concludes with another School Kids Day at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 26. It will also be a Thirsty Thursday with 16 oz. Miller Lite drafts for $2.00 and regular sodas for $1.50 thanks to Rocky 104.9.
