Winnipeg Goldeyes News Release

It was another offensive explosion that led the Winnipeg Goldeyes to victory and their 11th series win of the season.

The Goldeyes tallied six runs in the eighth inning beat the Sioux Falls Pheasants 8-2 Sunday night in the fourth game of their four-game weekend series before 2,476 fans at Sioux Falls Stadium.

Even with the win, the Goldeyes remain a game back of the first-place Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks in the American Association's North Division. The RedHawks defeated the Wichita Wingnuts 10-5 on Sunday.

After Sioux Falls took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, Winnipeg scored single runs in the fifth and sixth innings to go up 2-1, but the game was blown open in the eighth.

All nine Goldeyes players made a plate appearance in the top of the eighth inning. Price Kendall scored on a Luis Alen sac fly, Josh Mazzola drove in Chris Roberson, Jose Duran grounded out to score Kaohi Downing and Amos Ramon hit a three-run home run to cement the victory.

The Pheasants were able to score a run in the ninth inning off Zach Baldwin.

Ramon led the Goldeyes with three RBI, while Roberson, Alen and Kyle Day all had two hits.

Goldeyes starter Matt Rusch allowed just a run over eight solid innings of work. He struck out two in his sixth win of the season.

Alan DeRatt pitched into the eighth inning as the starter for Sioux Falls. He gave up five runs, four of which were earned, in the loss.

The Goldeyes return home to begin a six-game homestand on Tuesday against the Can-Am League's Quebec Les Capitals. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
