Diablos Prevail In Slugfest On Fronk's Game Winner In Tenth

El Paso Diablos News Release

EL PASO, TX- The Diablos and Saltdogs combined for 40 hits and 35 runs on a night when neither team could seem to get the other out. However, it was the Diablos that came out on top, rallying from a run down in both the ninth and tenth innings to win by a final of 18-17.

Reid Fronk's two run single came with El Paso trailing 17-16 in the bottom of the tenth and gave the Diablos their second straight walk off victory against Lincoln.

El Paso overcame three errors, six hit batsmen and a rare rough outing from starter Scott Hodsdon to win their second straight series heading into a key series with the first place Grand Prairie Air Hogs.

The four hour plus contest extended into extra innings when the Diablos, down 16-15 into the ninth, rallied off Pete Parise to knot the score at 16 on Mitch Einertson's RBI single.

The Saltdogs jumped back ahead in the top of the tenth, but El Paso was not to be denied. J.J. Muse singled to lead off the bottom half and was sacrificed to second by Jordan Marks. Maikol Gonzalez drew a walk after Muse stole third and promptly stole second himself. Fronk then lined a pitch from P.J. Zocchi (1-2) into right field to score both runners and give the Diablos the victory.

David Casillas (2-0) earned the victory in relief for El Paso. The Diablos are 24-35 entering the series against the Air Hogs.
