Lawrence-Dumont Stadium, Wichita, KS - Arkansas RHP Rich Fischer (1-0) tossed five shutout innings to lead the Travelers (2-0) to a 9-0 victory over the Wichita Wranglers. Travs LHP Willie Collazo tossed two scoreless innings and RHP Scott Schneider and RHP Cliff Smith each pitched one inning to complete the shutout. DH Rudy Gomez knocked in four runs on four hits to lead the Travs' 15-hit attack. Alberto Callaspo, Jeff Mathis, Nick Gorneault, Jason Aspito and Javy Rodriguez also had two hits apiece.

Gomez led off the second inning by beating out a slow chopper to third for a single. Gorneault sent him to third base with a line drive double to center. Aspito knocked in both men with a sharp single off losing pitcher RHP Danny Tamayo (0-1) to center for a 2-0 Travs lead.

In the sixth inning, Gorneault doubled to center off RHP Eduardo Villacis with one out. After the second out of the inning, Villacis picked Gorneault off second base, but SS Andres Blanco dropped the throw allowing the ball into center field. Gorneault scored on the error for a 3-0 Travs lead.

Arkansas CF Tommy Murphy bunted for a single with one out in the seventh inning. Casey Kotchman singled to shortstop sending Murphy to second base. After the second out, Blanco dropped a pop-up by Mathis to allow Murphy to score. Gomez followed with another single to score two more runs for a 6-0 lead.

Gomez added another two-run single in a three-run ninth inning to cap the scoring.

The game was played in 2:46 with the paid attendance at 845.

The third game of this six-game series is set for Saturday night. Arkansas LHP Tim Bittner takes the mound against Wichita RHP Kyle Middleton. The first pitch is set for 7:00 p.m.
