First Place Up For Grabs, Coastal Bend Series Moved To Amarillo

As the August temperatures continue to heat up in Texas so does the stretch-race in the United League, as the two-time defending champion Amarillo Dillas begin a pivotal series with the Edinburg Roadrunners tonight. The two teams square off in game one of the four-game series at the Amarillo National Bank Dilla Villa with first-pitch scheduled for 7:05pm. The Dillas enter tonight's contest just 1.5 games behind the Roadrunners.
In unrelated news, the Amarillo Dillas Baseball Club announced today that their four-game road trip that was scheduled to be played August 15-18 in Coastal Bend has been moved to Amarillo. With the transfer of the series it means that the current home stand will be extended through next Tuesday, August 17 with a doubleheader on Sunday and single-games on Monday and Tuesday. Sunday's twin-bill will begin at 6:05pm with ticket windows and gates opening at 4:05 and 5:05pm, respectively. Game two is scheduled to begin approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of game one. Monday and Tuesdays contests are both scheduled to begin at 7:05pm. The schedule change creates a day off for both teams on Wednesday, August 18.
After the Wednesday off-day, the Dillas will begin their final eight-game home stand of the regular season when they welcome in the San Angelo Colts and Edinburg Roadrunners. The first game of the home stand will begin on Thursday, August 19 and run through Friday, August 27 with a scheduled off-day sandwiched in-between the two four-game series, on Monday, August 23. The addition of the four games with Coastal Bend equates to a month of home games for the Dillas in which they will play twenty games in twenty-two days at the Amarillo National Bank Dilla Villa.
After this series the Dillas will travel to San Angelo on Saturday, August 28 to play the last three games of the regular season before the post season begins on Tuesday, August 31.
