Bakersfield Condors News Release

Bakersfield, Calif. - Yutaka Fukufuji stopped 30 shots and four players had multiple point games as the Bakersfield Condors handed the Idaho Steelheads a 4-1 defeat in front of 4,773 fans at Centennial Garden on Monday night.

Bakersfield got off to a quick start, with Brad Mehalko snapping home his 13th of the season just 61 seconds in for the early lead. Just 1:19 after Idaho tied it up in the first period, Likit Andersson tallied his first goal of the season to regain the lead for good.

After going 0-for-27 on the power play over the last five games, it was the Condors power play that made the difference tonight. Power play goals in the second period by Kevin St. Jacques and in the third by Lars-Peder Nagel gave Bakersfield a three-goal cushion and they cruised to the win. Bakersfield opened up a five-point lead on second place Idaho with the victory and improved to 10-1-2 at Centennial Garden.

The Condors homestand continues on Wednesday when the Long Beach Ice Dogs come to town. Everyone in attendance will get a Feliz Navidad poster, courtesy of KKEY-TV 11, La Preciosa 105.3 and Rio Bravo Country Club. Join the Condors the day after Christmas for Cheer Sign Night and Boxing Day celebration against the Fresno Falcons. Game time is 6:00 p.m. and everyone in attendance will get a Condors Cheer Sign, sponsored by the Bakersfield Californian, KGEO AM 1230 and the Bakersfield Ice Sports Center.
