UMBRELLA: Monday's game between the Fireflies and Braves has been postponed due to rain. The two teams will make up this contest as part of a doubleheader (two seven-inning games) on Tuesday at State Mutual Stadium.
ABOUT LAST GAME: Columbia edged Augusta 2-1 at Spirit Communications Park. Luc Rennie owned Sunday's series finale against the GreenJackets. The righty set a Fireflies franchise record with 14 strikeouts across seven innings. Rennie threw 92 pitches and 71 of those were for strikeouts (77%).

SUPER SCOTT: Catcher Scott Manea reached base twice again on Sunday. Manea has put together a splendid month of July:
- 18 GP: .311 BA, .425 OBP, 9 R, 8 2B, 3 HR, 17 RBI, 9 BB
His July batting average is the highest on the team and the catcher has started 15 straight games.
YOUNG AND SKILLED: Mets top prospect and former Firefly Andres Gimenez was promoted to Double-A Binghamton today. The 19-year-old is now the second-youngest player at the Double-A level (Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is the youngest). Gimenez left Advanced-A St. Lucie tied for the league-lead with 28 stolen bases. He also hit .282 in 86 games with the Mets.
TIME CAPSULE: On July 23, 1988, Hall of Famer John Smoltz made his big-league debut with the Atlanta Braves. Smoltz faced the Mets at Shea Stadium and his first career strikeout was against Darryl Strawberry.
