Flint, Mich. - Just four days after adding 16 draftees to the organization, the Flint Firebirds added three more prospects in the annual OHL Under-18 Priority Selection Draft this afternoon.

"You're going (into the U18 Draft) hopeful that you can select the players your scouts feel have a chance to make your team better," President of Hockey Operations Terry Christensen said. "We feel we put together a really good group of players in both this draft and the previous (2021 Priority Selection) that, along with our current players coming back, will give us great competition in training camp this fall."

The Firebirds got things going with the fifth overall selection, taking LHD Dillon Stiles from the Mississauga Reps U18 AAA. Stiles stands at 6-foot-5, 202-pounds and produced seven points (1 G, 6 A) in 40 games for the Reps during the 2019-20 season.

In the second round, the Firebirds went with G Ian Michelone from the Kanata Lasers U18 AAA. During his 2019-20 season, he went 15-7-0 with a 2.14 GAA, .924 SV% and was named a Hockey Eastern Ontario U18 AAA All-Star.

Selecting a goalie in the U18 Draft earns teams an extra pick in the third round. With that pick (#43 overall) Flint selected another LHD in Michael MacLean. MacLean comes from the Nepean Raiders U18 AAA, but last played for the Notre Dame Hounds U18 AA team in 2019-20 where we produced eight points (1 G, 7 A) in 33 GP.

The final draft remaining this summer for the Firebirds is the CHL Import Draft scheduled to take place Wednesday, June 30.
