Preview: Firebirds Begin East Road Trip in Peterborough Thursday

Peterborough, Ont. - The Firebirds look to continue their winning ways, after earning four of a possible six points last weekend, as the club heads east for three games beginning Thursday in Peterborough. Puck drop is set for 7:05 p.m. at the Peterborough Memorial Centre (capacity 4,329) tonight.
Flint is 2-1-0-0 in their last three games but lost their previous game on Sunday to the Kingston Frontenacs 5-3, despite outshooting them 38-23. The Firebirds still hold an impressive 6-2-0-0 record on home ice and are 1-3-0-1 on the road this season. The Petes earned a 4-2 victory over the Sudbury Wolves Friday night but were outshot 51-20. Peterborough is 3-3-0-0 at home this season.
After Thursday night's game in Peterborough, Flint will travel to Kingston for a Friday night contest against the Kingston Frontenacs before facing off in Ottawa against the 67's Sunday.
Players to Watch:
Flint Firebirds (7-5-0-1, 7th in Western Conference): Defenseman Mathieu Henderson netted his third goal of the season last game against the Frontenacs, extending his point streak to six games. Henderson has 13 points (3G, 10A) in 13 games this season. Everett Clark picked-up an assist last game and now has a three-game point streak. Clark has tallied seven points in his last five games. Ryan Moore (NHL draft eligible) scored his team-leading 11th goal of the season last game and is tied for second on the league scoring list with 23 points (11G, 12A) in 13 games played. Nicholas Caamano (Dallas Stars) is second on the team in points, with six goals and 12 assists in 13 games played. Third on the team is Kole Sherwood (Columbus Blue Jackets), with five goals and eight assists in nine games played. Rookie Ty Dellandrea scored his fifth goal of the season against Kingston, and is tied for second in rookie goals scored. Luke Kirwan (Detroit Red Wings) recorded an assist against the Frontenacs, and is second on the team with seven goals this season, and has 10 points in ten games.
Rookies Ty Dellandrea and Dennis Busby are not with the team on the Eastern trip this weekend as the two are representing Canada at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. from Oct. 27-Nov. 5.
In net, Garrett Forrest holds a 3-2-0-0 record with a 2.11 GAA and a .930 SAV%. Connor Hicks is 3-2-0-1 and played in the Firebirds' most recent game Sunday. Hicks made 18 saves on 22 shots and has a 4.22 GAA and a .858 SAV%.
Peterborough Petes (5-5-0-2, 7th in Eastern Conference): Forward Chad Denault, who signed with Peterborough Monday, will make his OHL debut Thursday night with the Petes. After missing three weeks due to an upper body injury, defenseman Matt Spencer is expected to return to the lineup as well.
Defenseman Matthew Timms is the leading point-getter for the Petes with one goal and 11 assists in 12 games this season. Logan DeNoble leads the team with eight goals after scoring against in Sudbury in their most recent contest. DeNoble has has nine points in 12 games this season. Third on the team in points is Jonathan Ang (Florida Panthers) who has three goals and five assists in 11 games.
Between-the-pipes, Dylan Wells (Edmonton Oilers) is 4-3-0-2 on the season and played in their last game against Sudbury. Wells was phenomenal, stopping 49-of-51 shots he faced and has a 3.15 GAA with a .920 SAV%. Scott Smith is 1-2-0-0 with a 4.09 GAA, and a .896 SAV%.
