Toronto, ON - October comes to an end with the sixth week of the 2016-17 Ontario Hockey League season featuring 24 games tonight through Sunday.

Here's a look at what's been happening around the league.

25 PLAYERS TO REPRESENT TEAM OHL AT 2016 CIBC CANADA RUSSIA SERIES:

The Ontario Hockey League announced Tuesday the 25 players who will represent Team OHL at the 2016 CIBC Canada Russia Series. Team OHL will compete against the Russian National Junior Team in Game 3 of the series in North Bay on Thursday November 10, with Game 4 to be played in Hamilton on Monday November 14. The series also includes two games in the Western Hockey League prior to both OHL games, and ends with two games hosted by the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. Read more

KNIGHTS' MAX JONES NAMED PIONEER ENERGY OHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK:

Anaheim Ducks prospect Max Jones of the London Knights is the Pioneer Energy OHL Player of the Week for the week ending October 23 after scoring two goals and five assists for seven points in two games along with a plus-minus rating of plus-4. Jones extended his season-long point-streak to six with a pair of multi-point performances last week for the Knights who have now won three-straight games. Read more

HIGHLIGHT GOALS, CLUTCH SAVES HEADLINE FIFTH EDITION OF OHL PLAYS OF THE WEEK:

The fifth edition of the 2016-17 regular season OHL Plays of the Week features a quartet of pretty passes and finishes and a series of saves that lead to an OT winner. Anthony Cirelli (Oshawa Generals), Ben Jones (Niagara IceDogs), Allan McShane (Erie Otters), Cliff Pu (London Knights) and North Bay's Brent Moran and Steve Harland made the cut this week. Watch

Moran and Harland's highlight is also the OHL's representative in #CHLShowdown showcasing one great play from all three league's providing fans the opportunity to vote for their favourite. VOTE.

BATTALION'S MORAN LEADS JANES SAVES OF THE WEEK:

The fifth installment of #JanesSaves offers another collection of the OHL's top goaltenders putting on a show between the pipes. Brent Moran (North Bay Battalion), Tyler Johnson (London Knights), Evan Cormier (Saginaw Spirit), Kaden Fulcher (Hamilton Bulldogs), Mario Peccia (Kingston Frontenacs), Dawson Carty (Kitchener Rangers), Dylan Wells (Peterborough Petes) and Michael McNiven (Owen Sound Attack) all make appearances. OHL MILESTONE MOMENTS:

12 OHL players scored their first OHL goal this past week. Relive them all with OHL Milestone Moments. This week's memories feature Alex Gritz (Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds), Adam Thilander and Adam McMaster (North Bay Battalion), Scoley Dow and Jeremey Goodwin (Mississauga Steelheads), Tom Hedberg (Barrie Colts), Danial Singer (Niagara IceDogs), Cedric Ralph (Guelph Storm), Hunter Holmes (Flint Firebirds), Cole Tymkin (London Knights), Sergey Popov (Kingston Frontenacs) and Danil Antropov (Oshawa Generals). GREYHOUNDS' SPEERS RETURNS FROM NEW JERSEY:

The New Jersey Devils announced via their Twitter account Monday morning that they've returned forward Blake Speers to the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds for the 2016-17 season. A 19-year-old native of Sault Ste. Marie, Speers returns home where he'll captain a Greyhounds club that is off to an 8-4-1-0 start in the West Division. Read more

REFEREE JOE PARK RETIRES AFTER 20 OHL SEASONS:

Saturday was a very special day for longtime Ontario Hockey League referee Joe Park who skated his final assignment after 20 years of officiating. The 46-year-old Barrie resident put on the stripes before family and friends in attendance at the Molson Centre as the Colts battled the visiting Guelph Storm. Park began officiating at the age of 13 before receiving an invite to the OHL's Officiating Training Camp at 26. He worked five seasons in the league as a linesman before making the switch to referee and wore the orange bands the last 15 years. Read more.

Spitfires host Pink in the Rink on Thursday: The Windsor Spitfires host their annual Pink in the Rink game at home to the Soo Greyhounds on Thursday. The Spits will be raising funds for local cancer research and programs, dawning specialty themed pink jerseys for the contest.

Spirit launch 'Name the Mascot" contest: The Saginaw Spirit are asking fans to help name their new mascot! The contest runs through November 4th before the new mascot makes its debut on November 5th. The winner of the mascot naming contest will win two tickets to the Saginaw Spirit Home Game on November 5th, as well as a special meet and greet with the mascot prior to revealing the mascot on November 5th, and a Spirit merchandise prize pack. Dress up for Halloween with the IceDogs on Friday: The Niagara IceDogs host their annual Halloween game at home to the Barrie Colts on Friday. Wear an outstanding costume and be chosen for the second intermission costume parade!

Colts host Halloween haunt on Saturday: The Barrie Colts are asking fans to help them put a spook into the visiting Sudbury Wolves on Saturday night. The Colts host their annual Halloween game and fans are asked to wear their scariest costumes to the rink for a chance to win prizes during the second intermission.

Storm host Spyke's Halloween Bash on Sunday: The Guelph Storm host mascot Spyke's Halloween Bash on Sunday afternoon when they host the Soo Greyhounds. Kids can trick-or-treat around the Sleeman Centre on an afternoon that also features a second intermission costume parade and a post-game skate with the team. Read more

Celebrate Halloween with the 67's on Sunday: The Ottawa 67's are asking fans to wear their Halloween costumes on Sunday afternoon when they play host to the Flint Firebirds. Forwards Patrick White and Travis Barron did some acting to inspire fans for the game. See that and more at ottawa67s.com.

Sting host Halloween Hockey game on Sunday: The Sarnia Sting will host their annual Halloween Hockey game on Sunday afternoon. The Halloween-themed game will feature the visiting North Bay Battalion. Fans are encouraged to dress up in their Halloween-best. Read more

ALUMNI NOTES:

Travis Konecny scores first NHL goal: Sarnia Sting forward Travis Konecny scored his first NHL goal on Tuesday, sparking a Philadelphia Flyers comeback win over Buffalo. Konecny scored 4:30 into the third period as the Flyers scored four unanswered in a 4-3 win. A former first overall OHL draft pick, Konecny has skated in seven games with the Flyers this season, recording a goal and five assists. The Clachan, ON, native was Philadelphia's first round (24th overall) pick in 2015. He has played 183 career regular season OHL contests between Sarnia and Ottawa, recording 85 goals, 154 assists and 239 points.

Jakob Chychrun scores first NHL goal: Sarnia Sting defenceman Jakob Chychrun scored his first NHL goal last week as the Arizona Coyotes fell 5-2 to the Montreal Canadiens. Chychrun's goal came 6:36 into the second period as he beat Montreal's Carey Price. Chychrun has skated in five games with the Coyotes, recording a goal, two assists and three points. A former first overall OHL draft pick, Chychrun has skated in 104 OHL regular season contests, recording 27 goals, 55 assists and 82 points in his time with the Sting.

Gemel Smith makes NHL debut: Former Owen Sound Attack and London Knights forward Gemel Smith made his NHL debut with the Dallas Stars on Oct. 22. Smith skated 8:39 in a 3-0 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets. The 22-year-old played four seasons in Owen Sound before a trade to London where he joined the Knights in hosting the 2014 Mastercard Memorial Cup. He was Dallas' fourth round (104th overall) pick in 2012. Smith spent the past two seasons with the Stars' AHL affiliate in Cedar Park, Texas the past two seasons. Smith played in 264 career OHL regular season games, recording 89 goals, 114 assists and 203 points. He was an OHL champion with Owen Sound in 2011.

Joseph Cramarossa makes NHL debut: Belleville Bulls graduate Joseph Cramarossa made his NHL debut with the Anaheim Ducks in a 4-2 win over Vancouver on Sunday. Cramarossa skated 8:20 and registered a pair of shots on goal in the victory. A native of Toronto, Cramarossa played three seasons with the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors before spending parts of two seasons with the Belleville Bulls. He was Anaheim's third round (65th overall) pick in 2011 and has spent the past three seasons with the Ducks' AHL affiliate. Cramarossa played in 235 career OHL regular season contests, recording 51 goals, 87 assists and 138 points.

Holden Cook named U Sports Player of the Week: Owen Sound Attack graduate Holden Cook of the StFX X-Men has been named the U Sports Male Athlete of the Week. The second-year business major from Oshawa, racked up eight points as No.2 StFX went 1-1 over the weekend against No. 8 UPEI and top-ranked UNB. He leads U Sports men's hockey with nine goals and 15 points. Cook played four full seasons in Owen Sound from 2011-15, amassing 124 points (61-63-124) over 239 career regular season contests. Formerly known as Canadian Interuniversity Sport, the recently unveiled U Sports was launched under new branding last week.
