FireAntz Sign NHL Draft Pick Hamburg

[FAYETTEVILLE, NC]-- The Fayetteville FireAntz, of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL), announced Wednesday that the team has signed forward Anthony Hamburg. Terms of the deal have not been released, per club policy. With the signing, the FireAntz are now at 24 players, including eight returners, for the upcoming season.

Hamburg, 23, is a 6'1, 190-pound forward from Houston, Texas. He is a 2009 7th round draft pick (193 overall) by the NHL's Minnesota Wild. In his draft year, while playing for the Dallas Stars U18 team, Hamburg notched 16 goals, 38 assists and 54 points in only 46 games played.

"Anthony is one of those special players with tremendous offensive upside." Head Coach Emery Olauson added, "When a guy like (Anthony) becomes available you do everything you can to sign him. We're thrilled that he is going to be coming to Fayetteville."
