Knoxville Ice Bears News Release

Knoxville, TN - (October 1, 2014) Knoxville Ice Bears announced today that the club has signed former Pensacola Ice Flyers' Captain Ryan Salvis.

Salvis, (6'0, 190 Ibs.), a forward from Toronto, ON, CAN, will be starting his 6th season of pro hockey in Knoxville. Spending the last three season in Pensacola, where he made the same number of trips to the finals and ultimately securing back to back SPHL championships. Salvis played 150 regular season games with the Ice Flyers tallying 146 points (44G, 102A).

"I've heard so many good things about the organization and the city. The fans are very supportive and loud every time we're there so it seems like a great place to play and I'm looking forward to getting things started. I'm excited about having the opportunity to lead this team deep into the playoffs and helping the Ice Bears raise another championship banner. There were a few seasons, not too long ago, where Knoxville dominated year after year and I am going to work my hardest to help that happen again," said Salvis.

Prior to his tenure with the Ice Flyers, Salvis spent time with Fayetteville and Huntsville of the SPHL. Before entering the SPHL, Salvis started his professional career in the ECHL with the Bakersfield Condors followed by playing a season in the CHL with the Laredo Bucks.

Ryan has been one of the most respected players in the league for a long time and we all feel very fortunate that we were able to bring him to Knoxville. I've shaken his hand at center ice in Pensacola the last 3 years in a row after he's helped eliminate us from the playoffs and I'm definitely anticipating shaking it under better circumstances in Knoxville here in a few weeks"," said Head Coach Mike Craigen.
