Snakes Announce Exhibition Schedule

COLUMBUS, Ga. - The Columbus Cottonmouths of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) announce their exhibition schedule for the 2014-15 season. The Snakes will play a pair of games against two of the original SPHL franchises, hosting the Huntsville Havoc and traveling to North Carolina to face the Fayetteville FireAntz. The two games will help Snakes head coach Jerome Bechard and assistant coach Brad Prefontaine make decisions to shape the roster for the upcoming season.

The Cottonmouths will culminate their first week of training camp with a home exhibition game against the Huntsville Havoc on Friday, October 17. The puck will drop at 7:30 PM EDT. Unlike the past few seasons, the game will be played at the Columbus Civic Center instead of the Snakes' practice facility next door at the Columbus Ice Rink. Tickets are on sale now at the Columbus Civic Center Box Office for the general admission event. Patrons of the exhibition game will also be allowed entry into the Greater Columbus Fair taking place next door from 5pm - 12am as part of a fun filled evening.

The Snakes will hit the road the next morning, bound for the Crown Center in Fayetteville, N.C. to take on the hometown FireAntz. The opening faceoff in Fayetteville is set for 7:35 PM EDT on Saturday, October 18. Former SPHL player Emery Olauson begins his first full season behind the FireAntz bench as he looks to turn around a team that finished ninth in the 10-team league last season, just one season removed from winning the SPHL regular season championship in 2012-13.

Along with the Knoxville Ice Bears, who the Cottonmouths will open the regular season against at the Columbus Civic Center on Friday, October 24, the Snakes, Havoc, and FireAntz represent the four SPHL franchises who have been in existence since the league's inaugural season in 2004-05. Each team will be kicking off their 11th season in their respective cities when the 2014-15 season begins in just under a month.

The Cottonmouths will begin their 11th season as an original member of the SPHL on October 24 with their season opener at home against the Knoxville Ice Bears.
