Kenosha, Wis. - The baseball was flying out of Simmons Field Sunday evening, with the Kingfish slugging four home runs to defeat the Battle Creek Bombers 13-4 and complete the four game sweep.
Already leading 1-0 after a Jeremy Vasquez RBI single, Jason Scholl launched a three run home run into the right field parking lot to give the Kingfish (40-19) a commanding 4-0 lead after the first inning.
Not to be outdone, Eric Filia hit a towering drive beyond the right field fence in the second inning for a solo home run and gave the Kingfish a 5-1 lead. Up 6-4 in the bottom of the sixth inning, Filia was not finished with the long ball. The All-Star outfielder hit another solo home run, his third round tripper in the past five games.
The Kingfish put the game out of reach in the seventh inning, plating six runs. Zach Weigel just missed a home run after doubling off the top of the wall with the bases loaded to bring home two runners. Two pitches later, Alex Borglin drove another ball over the right field fence, a three run home run, to make it 13-4 Kingfish.
