Filia, Scholl Power Kingfish Past Bombers 13-4

Kenosha, Wis. - The baseball was flying out of Simmons Field Sunday evening, with the Kingfish slugging four home runs to defeat the Battle Creek Bombers 13-4 and complete the four game sweep.

Already leading 1-0 after a Jeremy Vasquez RBI single, Jason Scholl launched a three run home run into the right field parking lot to give the Kingfish (40-19) a commanding 4-0 lead after the first inning.

Not to be outdone, Eric Filia hit a towering drive beyond the right field fence in the second inning for a solo home run and gave the Kingfish a 5-1 lead. Up 6-4 in the bottom of the sixth inning, Filia was not finished with the long ball. The All-Star outfielder hit another solo home run, his third round tripper in the past five games.

The Kingfish put the game out of reach in the seventh inning, plating six runs. Zach Weigel just missed a home run after doubling off the top of the wall with the bases loaded to bring home two runners. Two pitches later, Alex Borglin drove another ball over the right field fence, a three run home run, to make it 13-4 Kingfish.

Loads of offensive stars in this contest for the Kingfish. Five players had two hits and four players had at least two RBIs on the night. Scholl and Borglin each hit three run home runs and Filia homered twice in the game as well. Steve Sensley went 2-3 with a run and two walks in his 2015 Kingfish debut.

E.J. Trapino started for Kenosha and went four innings, allowing two runs on four hits while striking out three Bombers. Mario Samuel pitched one inning to pick up the win. Ryan Orr and Garrett McKenzie pitched the final four innings to end the game.

For the Bombers (19-39), Victor Gonzalez was credited with the loss after giving up five runs in two innings of work. Hank Truluck led the Bombers with three hits in the game.

Dental Associates "Summer-ween" with an in game costume parade and post-game trick or treating on the field takes place Monday, July 27th at 7:05 p.m. Fans are encouraged to dress up in a Halloween costume. It is also Ducks Unlimited Night presented by Sparks Insurance.
