La Crosse, WI- Again, it was walks, not hits surrendered, that caught up to the Bullfrogs as they dropped game two against the Loggers, 4-3.

Green Bay loaded the bases in the first with no outs. But they failed to capitalize after Brian Celsi (California) hit into a 3-2-3 double play, and Ryan Donovan (Lynn) struck out.

The failure to come through early caught up with the Bullfrogs in this one-run decision.

And for the second straight game on the road, the Bullfrogs shot off to the early advantage. In the third, the Bullfrogs loaded the bases again, and scored this time for two tallies including an RBI single from Celsi.

Carrying a 2-0 cushion, starting pitcher Ryan Radue (RHP/UConn) was masterful through the first four frames. After La Crosse scored one in the fifth on a 2-out RBI double from Keith Skinner (North Florida), the sixth inning began the tumultuous lead-losing slide.

The adversity in the pitching department in the sixth inning was not because of a La Crosse offensive onslaught. Instead it was because of walks, four of them in the inning.

Radue walked two with one out before being pulled in favor of Jake Stolley (LHP/Northwestern). In the no decision, Radue was solid again going 5 1/3 IP/ 2H/ 3R (2ER)/ 7K-3BB. Tonight was the first time the Bullfrogs lost in nine tries with Radue on the slab.

The consistently effective Jake Stolley entered in relief and could not shake the walk bug either.

He walked two in a row, including one to Jordan Pearce (Nevada) with the bases loaded to make it a tie game, 2-2. The next batter, Jordan Zimmerman (Michigan State), hit a ground ball to second that could not be hauled in by new Bullfrog, Ray Greco (UW-Stevens Point), an error that gave La Crosse a lead.

The final run in the sixth was a long sacrifice fly from left-hander Ryan Kirby (San Diego) that gifted the Loggers with a 4-2 advantage.

With plenty of innings to render a rally, Robb Paller (Columbia) doubled home Logan Taylor in the 7th inning. In the series, Taylor and Paller accounted for five of the eight runs Green Bay scored.

The door was slammed when the Loggers brought in the league's top closer, Ty Provencher (RHP/Long Beach State). He struck out two and spun a 1-2-3 ninth, and La Crosse beat the Bullfrogs despite being out hit, 7-4.

With the loss, the Bullfrogs are now 2-4 against the Loggers, and encountered their first situation all year in which they have been swept by a South Division opponent.

The loss went to Jake Stolley (2-1), the win to the Loggers' Alex Shake (Illinois Central C.C.) (2-0), and the league-leading save was awarded to Ty Provencher (12).

Skip Handelsman will lead his team into a six-game home stretch with a 7:05PM tilt tomorrow against Wisconsin Rapids. The Bullfrogs will start Austin Hancock (RHP/Lenoir Rhyne) for the first time this season.

Single game tickets are on sale now. Visit www.greenbaybullfrogs.com to purchase tickets. The Bullfrogs' business hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
