Lake County Fielders News Release
ZION, IL-The Lake County Fielders (29-38) defeated the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks (39-26) for the second straight game by a score of 5-3 in Zion.
Ryan Bicondoa (2-5), pitching on just three days rest, threw seven innings and gave up only two runs on nine hits, walking three and striking out five.
The Fielders fell behind early when Cory Patton hit a two-run double off the center field wall in the second inning, but their lead would be short lived.
The Fielders come-back began in the bottom of the third on the league-leading 24th double of the season from Amos Ramon. Juan Valdes, on second after a one-out double of his own, scored on the play to make it 2-1.
All-Star leftfielder Joshua Short gave the Fielders the lead with his 20th home run of the season in the fourth inning. The three-run shot over the left field wall scored Guillermo Martinez and Valdes, who had reached base on back-to-back singles to lead off the inning.
Lake County added an insurance run in the sixth when Cody Strait reached on an error then scored on Zach Larson's double into the left field corner.
Chris Homer bounced back from his first rough outing of the season on Monday night pitching around a two-out walk in the ninth inning for his 11th save in 11 chances.
The Fielders look to win the four-game series Wednesday night at 7:00pm at Fielders' Stadium in Zion.
